Part 1

I would have to say that I found it very difficult to speak without using language an American sign language. Using symbols helped a bit and the fact that the person I was talking to was really good at reading lips so I used a lot of pointing and lip movement when trying to communicate with my finacee. But it made it a little easy with him talking to I new what he was saying and I believe it was harder for him to understand me then it was for me to understand him!

I noticed that it was hard for my finacee to understand me but the only thing I believe he did that was different was when I was trying to communicate with him he had to get up a lot and he did a lot of pointing and picking up  things asking me if that was what I was talking about! I noticed he did get a little frusterated not being able to understand me right away! He said it felt like he was talking to a child!

My partners and I decided that I was going to be deaf and that I only used sign language and he was going to be Mexican. It was very difficult because I new sign language and the only sign language I know is American sign language so it wasn’t to hard for me but he was at a disadvantage because he didn’t understand anything at all. I did a great job but it was frustrating because he didn’t understand me at all.  In our culture I have a friend who works at a fast food restaurant and I know she finds it very hard to work their because the majority of the people that work their speak Spanish and she doesn’t speak it at all so I know the people she works with get really frustrated with her because she can never understand them!

Part 2

Yes I was able to last the full 15 min but I noticed at the beginning I caught myself moving my head so I noticed that and I stopped but it was a little difficult not being able to use my hand I had to sit on my hands when I was talking. I never noticed how much I use my hands when I’m talking to others. So it made it difficult for me because I do use a lot of body language when speaking with others no matter who it is.

I don’t  believe that my fiancée was effected at  all really much by this part because verbal language is really a lot if you think about it because there are people out there who cant move their body when they are speaking and they communicate just fine with one another.  So not being able to move wasn’t that different then I believe then actually moving when you are in a conversation sitting on the sofa.

I believe that that the use of signs in out language aren’t something are language couldn’t live without. It makes are language a lot easier to understand when using signs but I do believe people will still be able to understand out language with out signs.  I do believe that the techniques we do use that are non-verbal can be very important when talking to someone who is death and can not hear.

I do believe that some people have a hard time using body language. A lot of people I know misinterpret body language and that could totally change a conversation. I benefits to understanding body language is huge. Say someone it hurt and they are holding their leg but they cant speak someone who can understand body language would know that something is wrong with their leg and that’s what they need to focus on first. The littlest hand movements and body movements can make a big difference in communications 

week 5

The Piltdown man is a hoax that is concerning the finding of remains of and unknown human. The hoax are the finding of skull bones that were collected in the early 1900’s found while digging in pits in the town of Piltdown which is in the rolling hills of Sussex, which is a country in southeast England. These remains where different from any living human. Darwin said that the skulls were thick and appeared rather primitive. This Piltdown Hoax is one of the biggest and most well known Hoax ever.

I believe that human faults came into play hear because I don’t believe anyone ever thought that they remains where going to be tested. The impact on this for humans wouldn’t be good because who would have anything to argue about when it comes to science.

The Piltdown man hoax continued going on because at the time of discovery the scientist believe that the modern brain was larger and the evidence of the forgery tried to make the true and with the forgery evidence it was true. This forgery last for 40 years because the people wanted to believe it. So for 40 years inside the museum that hinton and others know Piltdown was a forgery and not one said anything. People have even accused Kenneth Oakley of perpetrating that cover up by not coming out and naming Martin Hinton as the hoaxer. He suspected but had no proof and with not proof he wouldn’t say.

I don’t believe that it is going to be possible to remove the human figure from science. I believe humans are to involved and cant help it up want to discover new and evolving things. I do not think that anyone could make the desire go away from studying about these things in history. I believe to stop forgery from ever happening in science again that things need to be handled more carefully and make sure only current people get to handle the things.

The life lesson I received from this was that everything needs to be tested more then once and that I need to make sure what I’m doing it right and that everything is accurate!

Comparitive Primate's!

Lemurs: Lemurs are a clad of strepsirrhine primates endemic to the island of Madagascar. Lemurs like to live in the treetops of rain forest. Lemurs communities, diversity and complexity are becoming bigger precipitation and are highest in the rainforests then that of the east coast of Africa which are similar to the island of Madagascar, where rainfall and floral diversity are normally at their highest. Lemurs do not live on the ground they like to live in the trees. Some lemurs live alone while some others live in groups.

Spider Monkeys: Spider Monkeys lives in tropical forests in central and South America, from southern Mexico to Brazil. They are an important food source due to their large size and are widely hunted by local human population. They are also threatened by habitat destruction due to logging and land cleaning. Spider monkeys like to live in the high canopies of the tresses in the rain forest.

Baboon: Baboons are African and Asian old world monkeys belonging to the genus Papio. There are five different types of baboons. Baboons are found in surprisingly varied habitats and are extremely adaptable. The requirements for living are water and safe sleeping places in either trees or on cliff faces.

Gibbons: Gibbons are small, arboreal apes distributed in the wild in the tropical and subtropical rainforests of Southeast, South, and East Asia. They are currently found in small populations in China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Bangladesh, NE India, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Gibbons are known for the world’s great acrobats. The swing from tree to tree at 35mph.

Chimpanzee: Chimpanzee’s can be found in 21 African countries. The live in humid closed-canopy forest, Montana forest, seasonally dry forest and savanna woodlands. Common chimpanzees are very social animals and have a male- bonded society. Males are dominant over all females.

Diet 

Lemurs: Like to eat plants, bugs and sometimes-small mammals.

Spider monkeys: Like to eat ripe fruit, leaves, seeds, flowers, nectar, insects, and small bird eggs.

Baboons: Like to eat grass, leaves, blossoms, seeds, gum, tree sap, roots, flowers, fruit, mushrooms, shots, herbs, tubers, small animals such as fish, birds and small antelopes.

Gibbons: Like to mainly only eat fruit.

Chimpanzee: Like to eat Plants, fruit, and meat.

For the baboons and the spider monkeys I would have to say these three primates would be able to live if they could swing from the trees because if they had to walk along the forest ground they would probably be eating by other primates on the forest grounds.

Chimpanzee I would say they are amnivores they only eat plants fruit and meat. They eat mostly fruit. In the long dry seasons when fruit is scarce, tree seeds, flowers, and bark become an important part of their diet. Chimps eat big fruit with their hand. There are 80 different plants chimps eat.

Behavioral, physical and adaptation traits are making a huge impact on these species. Primates have to adapt what whatever enviorment they have to live in. A lot of primates get kicked out of the area they are living in and they have to adapt to new living situations just as we would have to.

Week 3 Analogy/ Homology

1.

Tiger      Lion     House Cat

Tigers and lions are both large wild animals. These homologous trait that their ancestor passed on was their thick fur coats and the fact that they are both felines.

Lions and tigers are both felines. The tigers fur coat is thick and its stripped with orange in the back ground. A lions fur coat is normally one color and that’s a yellow color. Male lines also have a main. This is a trait that is passed on to all tigers and all lions.

The common ancestors of these species is the cave lion. The cave lion is actually more related to the tiger than it is to the lion. It is the largest cat ever discovered.

Tigers are larger wild animals and house hold cats are small house cats. They both have fur and have tails and ears. But the tiger is a lot larger then a house cat and house cats come in many colors and tigers are only tripped.

A tiger is a large animal that lives either in the wild or in a zoo.  Tigers have fur that is only orange and black strips. House hold cats are small and normally live in some ones house they are pets. Household cats are of many different breids and come in many different colors.

I couldn’t find a common ancestor online it says cats are cats there didn’t evolve from anything else

Week 1 Assigment #2

1. I decided to go with Jean-Baptiste Lamarck because he has a very similar idea to darwins theory of nature.

2. Lamarck was a great guy and wrote many novels about his theory for others to learn about the science of which he believes.

3. Its not the individuals that evolve its the population. Meaning that individuals inherit everything the know from generations before. And they pass on the same traits but evolution doesn't occur with in a generations it happens between the generations. Lamarck said " Time and favorable conditions are the two principals. Darwins theory is shown in this that traits do pass over in time through generations.

4. I do believe that Darwin could have still developed his own theory without the help of Jean-Baptiste Lamarck's theory. Darwin was a great man and had many other theorist that would of lead him to this theory.

5. The attitude of the churches didn't really affect Darwin because he has his own theory and that was what he was going to believe. The churches didn't want to except this theory because they didn't like the way it was being tough!

Student in Class

1. Hypothesis’s: Well my testable hypothesis with this student falling asleep in class is maybe this student isn’t getting enough sleep at night and is going out and partying late with friends.

2. Testing this hypothesis: I believe this hypothesis can be tested by having this student going out one night and staying out very late then going home and only getting a few hours of sleep. Then the next night have this student go to bed at a reasonable time say 9pm and see how they do the next day in class.  If the student doesn’t fall asleep in class it will show that the student got enough sleep and if the student still falls asleep that will show that it isn’t the lack of sleep that is making the student fall asleep. 

3. Un-testable hypothesis: A Un-testable hypothesis would be that the student is being put to sleep by the sleeping fairy that is making them sleep during this class.
